OFFICE-GRADE PAPER, NEWSPAPERS, CORRUGATED CARDBOARD AND FOOD
BOXES CAN BE RECYCLED TOGETHER!
YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN GARBAGE CAN, JUST MAKE SURE IT HAS
BEEN CLEARLY MARKED WITH A RECYCLING STICKER, WHICH IS AVAILABLE
AT THE BOROUGH BUILDING.
2015 GARBAGE AND RECYCLING
The Clarks Summit Borough
has garbage and recycling pickup every week. J.P. Mascaro
picks up trash every Thursday or Friday (depending where you live in
Garbage and recycling will be postponed by
one day during the following holidays:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
TRASH & RECYCLING COLLECTION
Recyclables should be placed in the blue Borough Recycling Containers,
OR your own garbage can, as long as it is clearly marked with a
recycling sticker available at the borough building. This is how the collector identifies the
recycling container from the regular garbage can.
Household Garbage is collected every week. If
you have anything unusual or large for the trash, please call ahead
at 1-800-243-7575 to JP Mascaro to make sure there is room on the
truck for that item(s) and to make sure it is an item that they will
take. Items containing Freon, for example, need to have the
Freon removed before the item can be disposed of.
We now also have a collection bin in the Borough Office for the Energy Efficient Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs that contain mercury!

that effective January 24, 2013, landfills in Pennsylvania will
no longer be allowed to accept certain "covered" electronic
devices. A new state law-Act 108 of 2010-known as The
Covered Device Recycling Act (CDRA) defines these electronics to
include desktop and laptop computers, computer monitors,
computer peripherals, printers and keyboards and televisions. The CDRA requires
that these devices be recycled. The Lackawanna County
Recycling Center @ 3400 Boulevard Avenue in Scranton will accept
electronics at no cost. A Gaylord box on a wooden pallet
is situated in front of the office portion of the center.
County residents place electronics inside it. However, if
multiple electronics are delivered, please phone the recycling
center @ 963-6868 ext. 5, to arrange for accommodations. These items cannot be
collected with the trash.
The Lackawanna Recycling Center is
located at 3400 Boulevard Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509. For more
information call 570-963-6868. Residents must provide photo ID
proof of residency.
